Exhibit Three: USU Stars - Gear Up Client
My goal for this project was to create something funny and different to appeal to potential future Aggies. The original design (above) is low quality and needs more contrast. I used and repeated the standard Arial typeface with a light drop shadow for the text in this image. This image ultimately falls flat because BE TRUE is a vague, confusing statement for people unfamiliar with Utah State. This design isn't terrible, but needs to be implemented as part of a larger marketing campaign for USU Stars to be successful.
The updated image (below) has a design that utilizes repetition with coolvetica and a black and white image adjustment. The text elements no longer have a drop shadow and low-opacity shapes were added to improve readability using Photoshop's rectangle tool and opacity slider. The BE TRUE text is smaller and aligned in the center of the image. The URL in the bottom-left corner is sitting on a white shape with 100% opacity in an attempt to help it stand alone — it's not perfect but I think it works because of it's proximity to the other text elements.
Despite a few alignment issues with the middle shape, the updated design looks much better than the original.
